On completion of the bike setup you have the option to relax and explore your new surrounding on foot or maybe take the opportunity to jump on your bike. We have optional route if you feel like heading out and exploring the area, whilst checking your bike and make any final adjustments.
Collado de los Ginovinos & Embalse de la Pedrera
Today we venture onto a Vuelta de Murcia route, riding out of Los Alcázares and head out into the agricultural area through the orange groves to Collado de los Ginovinos & Embalse de la Pedrera.
Before you head back to the hotel it’s always great to finish a ride at a local chiringuito for a well earned cerveza or two!
Cartagena, Alto de el Cedacero and Puerto de Mazarrón
Having enjoyed you first evening in Los Alcázares, its time to get those legs spinning to the beautiful port of Cartagena and its roman heritage. From here we take a route used in the Vuelta a España 2018 Day 6 towards Puerto de Mazarrón known as Alto de El Cedacero.
This route also gives the opportunity to enjoy a local tapas lunch and visit the Torre de Santa Elena in the La Azohia bay, before finally making your way to Puerto de Mazarrón.
Ride from Puerto de Mazarrón, Aguilas and Totana
Today our ride takes us further down the Mediterranean coast from Puerto de Mazarrón via Calabardina and Aguilas before heading inland toward the Sierra Espuña. As in previous days we venture onto roads that have been used in the Vuelta a España.
The opportunity to enjoy a local tapas lunch and take in the stunning scenery, whilst comparing the coastline with the mountain backdrops of Lorca and Totana.
Sierra Espuña National Park
The only way is up today as we enter the Sierra Espuña National Park to climb the Collado Bermejo. Taking in the opportunities to stop at the viewing points is optional as we work our way to the 1530m summit.
Look out for local legends such as Alejandro Valverde and Luis Leon Sanchez who use this route for training.
Day 6 – Cañada de Gallego
For your penultimate ride we make one last trip to the Mediterranean coast to the Cañada de Gallego with a distance of 154km and 1,767m elevation,
Totana, Cresta del Gallo and Murcia
On the last day our final ride will take us over to Murcia, where we will head for the Vuelta de Murcia famed Cresta del Gallo climb with fantastic view across the city of Murcia and beyond.
